They are used in teas as well as mulch for gardening when added to soils for growing plants. Some brewers also use cocoa shells for flavouring their unique brews!.
The proximate composition consists of proteins, fats, sugars, moisture and ashes. This has been described to be similar to that of cocoa beans. However, with a much lower percentage of fats compared to cocoa beans which is substituted by a much higher amount of fibers, higher content of proteins, fats and carbohydrates.
